Kenya Music Festival under the Auspices of Ministry Education kicked- off regional ties from 6th to 17th July, 2023 in various parts of the country from Western Region to the Coast Region. School Equipment Production Unit sponsored a special composition themed “Furthering of National Education Goals through the provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in schools and in its quest to be a leader in nurturing learners potential. This theme resonates well with this years festival theme ” Nurturing talent for Innovation and Development. Equipment and materials are inseparable with the learning of Science.
NAIROBI REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
School Equipment Production Unit Board of Directors Duo of Dr. Hassan Mohammed and Director Dorcas Kimwetich present trophies to Winner, Parklands Arya Girls High School and Runners up, Precious Blood Girls Riruta of Choral Verse class 1042J on July 11, 2023 at Ofafa Jericho High School.
This was at the close of curtains for the Kenya Music Festival Nairobi Chapter championship.
This year’s theme of the competition” Furthering of National Educational Goals through the Provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in Schools” that saw SEPU sponsor the 1042J class.
EASTERN REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Eastern Region Kenya Music Festival Championships was a buzz of activities from the arrival of SEPU duo, Mr. Gilbert Mukuusi and Mr. Fredrick Seda to the presentation of different pieces from different categories including a Choral Verse class 1042J that was sponsored by School Equipment Production Unit. SEPU officers were received by none other than Kangaru Boys High School Principal, The Eastern Region Education Commissioner, the Education Coordinator, other school heads and teachers. SEPU offers had a platform to address the gathering, sensitizing them of SEPU mandate.

The Theme “Furthering of National Educational Goals through provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in Schools saw School Equipment Production Unit sponsor a Choral Verse class 1042J.This years’ Easten Edition was graced by SEPU Board member Director Joseph Kiunga, Mr. Gilbert Mukuusi and Mr. Fredrick Seda.
Director Kiunga later presented to Kaaga Girls of Meru who emerged the winners with 90 marks with the winning trophy followed by Matungulu Girls from Machakos with 89 points emerging as runners up earlier earlier today July 11, 2023.
WESTER REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Bunyore Girls High school are the current Western Region class 1042J Kenya Music Festival champions with 89 marks followed closely by Cardinal Otunga Girls from Bungoma with 87 marks.. The competition which closed its curtains ON July 18, 2023 was graced by SEPU boss Dr. Joel Mabonga who personally delivered the winning trophy to the winners and the runners- up of the Choral Verse that was SEPU sponsored. Other SEPU officials in attendance included Mr. Allan Akwabi Weche(Sales Head) and Mr. Robin Momanyi(Stores Department)
RIFT-VALLEY REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
The 95th Edition of the Kenya Music Festivals(Rift Valley Region) kicked off on July 15, 2023 at Maasai Mara University in Narok County. Learners from both Primary and secondary schools gathered to the Outfit to showcase their talents to the judges asigned This year’s event attracted more than 15,000 participants and beared a mother theme of nurturing talent for innovation and national development. During the official opening of the competition, the Rift Valley Regional Director of Education who also doubles as the Regional Music Festivals patron underscored the importance of music and further reitorated that it communicates critical messages. School Equipment Production Unit sponsored a choral verse class 1042J themed “Furthering of National Educational Goals Through the Provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in schools.” The Winners from this region were Maai Mahiu Boys from Nakuru who scooped 88 marks while number two went to Metkei Girls who managed 87 marks.
COAST REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Coastal Region Kenya Music Festival championship reached its finale ON July 18, 2023 at Mvindenyi Social Hall in Kwale county. School Equipment Production Unit sponsored a Choral Verse Class 1042J which saw SEPU officers keep keen eyes on its presentations.
The Mighty Shimo la Tewa High School emerged the winners with 90 marks as Jomvu Girls High School scooped the second position with 88 marks. School Equipment Production Unit Board Chairperson, Dr. Patrick Musyoka, Nicholas Mzuri ( Head of Accounts- SEPU) and Nick Rono (Procurement Officer- SEPU) presented trophies to the winners and runners up. This years’ theme for the Music Festivals is “Furthering of National Goals Through the Provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in schools”
NYANZA REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Nyanza Region Kenya Music Festival championship closed it’s curtains ON July 14, 2023 at Migori Teachers Training College. School Equipment Production Unit sponsored a Choral Verse Class 1042J which saw SEPU officers on the look out for its presentations. Nyakach Girls from Kisumu county trained by Mr. Peter Oyombe emerged the Winners of this Nyanza Edition with 88 marks, followed by Aluor Girls from Siaya county with 86 marks. Mr Philip Onyango and Mr Hillary Kibunja of SEPU are seen presenting trophies to the winner and runners up. This years’ theme “Furthering of National Educational Goals Through the Provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in schools had a direct inclination to SEPU.
CENTRAL REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Curtains for the Central Region music festivals which took place at Nyahururu boys Secondary school in Nyandarua County dropped on Sunday July 15, 2023. This years regional festivals attracted 40,000 participants from the five counties of Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyandarua and Nyeri. The schools that qualified at the county level are the ones who have been battling it out at the regional level with adjudicators in different categories judging their presentations. This years theme ” Furthering of National Educational Goals Through the Provision of Quality Science and Technology Equipment in Schools” had School Equipment Production Unit sponsor Choral Verse class 1042J with winners and runners -up presented with trophies by SEPU. Madam Susan Mutavi(Supply Chain) and Madam Trizah Korir( H/R) represented SEPU at this regional championship.
NORTH EASATERN REGIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Wajir Girls High School hosted to this year’s North Eastern Kenya Music Festivals championship which began on 6th and ended on 9th August 2023.This edition attracted only 2 participants with Waso Girls day secondary school emerging the winners with 80 marks and Banisa mixed SecondarySchool runners up with 79 marks. SEPU having sponsored class 1042J had Mr. Lawrence Karuntimi (Board member), Torah Mayaka and Mr. Titus Musili in representation. The trio put across the message SEPU was playing in enhancing teaching and learning experiences through the provision of quality science materials.
