SEPU Season 2 Tree Planting commenced on Friday, 19th July 2024, at Kishermoruak Secondary School in Narok West, Narok County. The event was officially launched by SEPU Board of Directors Chairperson Dr. Musyoka P. Kiliku, Ph.D., accompanied by the CEO Dr. Joel Mabonga, Ph.D., the Kishermoruak Board Management Chair, school principal Mr. Stephen Kileyia, teachers, and students. On the first day, 419 tree seedlings were planted, with plans to extend the initiative by planting an additional 1,000 trees at Kishermoruak Primary and Junior School. The SEPU team who led the activity included, Madam Jane Mwai, IPDC Chairperson and SMO; Mr. Robin Momanyi, PC Coordinator and Research Officer; Mr. Samson Lenkina, member of the IPDC and production department; Mark Mutai, member of the production department; and Judy Kalekye from the Communication Department. In total, 3,019 trees were planted at both Kishermoruak Boys Secondary School and Primary School. Further to the tree planting initiative in line with the Presidential Directive to plant and grow 15 billion trees to mitigate climate change, the Managing Director extended his generosity by adopting Kishermoruak School Complex as a SEPU Environmental Park for CSR and for other business partnerships in support of the schools goals.
Dr. Musyoka P. Kiliku, BOD Chair, who was accompanied by enthusiastic boys, also pledged to sponsor one promising young environmentalist by contributing 10,000 Kenya Shillings towards his school fees each term until he completed fourth form.
The school community warmly welcomed this gestures and committed to nurturing the planted tree seedlings to ensure their growth.
